mistaken for strangers
mistaken for strangers
Hi. I'm still alive, despite some strong reservations. This is a one-template class with some deltas. It adapts a video game I like. It doesn't get any items or skills at character creation but you can't take it after.
doomed
Common wisdom is to murder you on sight.
When you roll for pure luck, you get the worst possible result. If something bad affects the party unevenly and arbitrarily, you get the worst of it. If it would affect one person it's always you.
You cannot benefit from fate or destiny or visions or the workings of gods or anything like that. If you try your hand at obedience you will always fail. If you fail or disobey you will always be punished. Kindly gods want you exorcised, cast into no-place. Selfish gods want to eat you or enslave you. Most powerful people are pale imitations of selfish gods.
defiled
You are immune to fate, destiny, prophecy, universal or indifferent workings of divinity, the narrative and thematic posturing of the gm, the way things are "supposed to happen," but not to material things, like thermodynamics or love.
discarded
This world is anathema to everything like you. Each raindrop strikes like a hammer. You are always exhausted and in pain. The kiss of a candleflame could annihilate you.
Your physical stats are all 0, and your HP is 1.
You can bind yourself to something and live in its shadow, like a virus lives in breath or blood. Tools, creatures, corpses. If your host has a will of its own, you have no power over it, and it can choose to forsake or reject you. If it doesn't, you can limp around in it, drawing motive force from the shuddering friction between cavities. You can always speak through your host even if it can't speak, a cataract of whispered drool pouring from its foaming orifices. If something is utterly forsaken, ontologically evil, or universally forbidden, it always understands you, and you it. So long as you keep and care for your host, or are kept and cared for in turn, you can't be seen or touched. Anything that hosts you is defiled by your touch.
∆ necrotic tangle of putrid could-have-been
(outlive a host who took good care of you)
You can form a physical body by using your host's body as a chrysalis. You may not have hands or a face capable of human expression. Give yourself new physical stats. Your size is limited to the mass of your host. If you nurse and care for multiple hosts after their deaths and bring them safely with you, you can combine them into a single chrysalis, to make yourself bigger and stronger. If a host has forsaken you, even in secret, their body will poison you, and you'll deliquesce in sunlit agony to sludge and grease.
∆ coffin full of chains and handkerchiefs
(survive something that destroys your host completely)
You can call more of your kind through a dark empty door or window by singing through the night. You get no rest. If anything fills that space but darkness and the wind, you fail. Gain 1d3 Doom Spirit hirelings, each with a Morale of 4, and the attention of something that wants to hurt you.
∆ i'm a wound i'll never get clean
(be gifted this template by an older doom spirit, or steal it from them)
You can learn and cast spells. This works like a Demon Blade, except sacrificing your host's HD instead of souls. (Or, if you have a body, spending your own.) Your spells are viral skitterlings, agents of infiltration, corruption, and transformation. They infest you, make their hive inside your host, are cast crawling through its orifices. They talk to each other, in a chittering language you can understand with discarded. They're too good to talk to you.
∆ the lock that breaks the key
(care for anyone who cares for you)
anyone who shares a scene of intimacy with you is defiled by your touch. they can cleanse the stigma by forsaking and wounding you. if they don't, they become indelibly doomed. You must take this template if you meet its requirement.
Chilling, especially the last delta.
ReplyDeleteBut I am glad I can read your writings again.
assassin has just now been supplanted as the most resonant lovely dark class to me.
